Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for information.
An important official stated the vandalism made him without words and had to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
